The box is made of foam core. The windows in the front and on the top, as well as the door are packaging plastic sandwiched between the two layers of foam core. I used stone look spray paint on the inside and outside of the box. A light shade for the inside and this pinkish terracotta for the exterior.
The planters are caps from asthma inhalers. I stippled various colors of brown paint, then sealed with matte mod podge. The display for the paintings is held in place by magnets. It's removable to view the inside of the studio.
I made the shelving unit on the back wall with foam core. The computer is a printie. The stereo was purchased. The stereo speakers are illustration board covered with black netting and thumbtacks.
The easel was made from coffee stirrer sticks. The drawing was printed on canvas fabric, then glued to illustration board. The newspaper is a printie. The stool was given to me in a swap.
The portfolio was made from scrapbook card. The recipient's actual artwork was printed in miniature for the portfolio.
The sink is made of foam core. The sink is a jelly container with a snap for the drain. The faucet is earring backs and wire. The round containers are desiccants (moisture absorbents) from aspirin bottles that are painted and have printie labels. The cans are dowels. The paint tubes are rolled up foil with a straight pin inserted as a lid. The boxes are printies. The rag is a piece of toilet paper that was painted with glue and draped over the sink.
The Scrabble tiles are actual size. The dry erase board was made by covering a piece of card stock with packaging tape before framing it. The photos are scaled down versions of original family photos.
