Medical Glove Box Tutorial

FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY

Picture
Make 1/12th scale gloves for a doctor's office or
any scene where a box of gloves is needed,

Supplies Needed:

1. Plastic Eraser* (See photos for examples)
2. 1 Sheet White Card Stock
3. Printable of glove box and glove (Click on button for link to a free, downloadable pattern)
4. 1 Vinyl or Nitrile glove**
5. Tacky Glue (I use Weldbond, but any will do)
6. Scissors and Xacto knife
*I bought my erasers at a dollar store. I prefer this kind, as it’s easy to cut, carve and paint. It’s great for use in miniature making. For this tutorial, leave the eraser white.
**Most doctor’s offices will give you a single glove for the project. You could also use a balloon if you don’t have access to a glove.

Click for Glove & Box Template
Click on button to get to the free template for the box and glove. (Opens in a new tab)

1. Print the glove box and glove template onto a piece of card stock. Cut out both. Note: It is possible to print on regular printer paper, but when glued to the eraser it may be hard to keep a crisp, box look.

 2. Cut the eraser to fit the box template. Glue template to eraser and let dry.

3. Place glove template onto glove. I used the entire glove for various projects, for this you only need 1 fingertip of the glove. (This will make 2 gloves using the template. The finished box uses 2 gloves).

4. You can cut out more if you want to leave a pair out in a scene.

5. Using an Xacto knife cut out the oval on the top of the box. Carve a little bit out of the eraser through that opening, so when you glue the glove pieces in place it looks like the box is filled.

6. Glue the miniature glove cut-outs to the oval section, laving some of the gloves sticking up as shown in the photo.

7. You’re done! So easy!

I've been making 1/12th scale miniature since 2007. I prefer to work in 1/12th scale, as that's easiest to convert from real life measurements. I like the challenge of creating a miniature to look like its real life inspiration. I use items usually sent to the trash can, as well as every day items to convert into miniatures. My favorite mediums are Illustration board, foam core, card stock and balsa wood. I like being able to incorporate all of my favorite craft hobbies in making my rooms and miniatures.
