Chiropractor's Office in 1/12th Scale
Completed on Semptember 2, 2012
The completed room box had a photo of a tree outside the Chiropractor's office, along with a dedication to the physician. The room is a scale model replica of his office and x-ray area.
The box was a storage container purchased at a big box store. The walls are foam core covered with scrapbook paper. The floor is Contact shelf paper.
The x-ray machine is a printie made from photos of the actual machine. I made a lot of printies for this room, on the walls, desk and shelf.
The desk is made from balsa and Illustration board. The pulls on the desk drawers are eye hooks painted gold. The fruit was purchased. The computer monitor is a cell phone display. The cup is a cap from a glue bottle.
The books, cards and forms are printies. The x-ray viewer is Illustration board and velum. The x-rays were printed on transparency film.
The exam table is made of balsa and covered with upholstery leather. The door is illustration board with balsa inserts. I used decorative nail stickers to look like carved wood. The middle photo to the left of the door is a photo of the original door. The shelf is balsa and toothpicks. The sharps container is a printie covering a piece of dollar store gum eraser. The stethoscope, etc., are printies.
I used beads, toothpick, and fiberfill to make the Kachina doll. In the background you can see the photo of the original. The tile floor under the sink is pieces of egg carton painted different shades of gray.
The blinds are made from a dollar store woven place mat painted white. The sink was a protective cap on a stick of deodorant. The scale is foamcore, fun foam and printies.
The chairs are illustration board covered with upholstery leather. I used needle and thread the tuft the cushions and back. The door is Illustration board with insert pieces added to the top of the main piece. The door handle and deadbolt lock are pieces of scrapbook brads.
I printed all of the printies on one piece of card stock. I used dowel pieces to make the canisters. I used upholstery leather to cover the desk chair and coated it with matte mod podge to make it shiny like the original chair.
