Doctor's Office Room Box in 1/12th Scale

Completed on February 25, 2012

The room box started out as a trunk I got in the clearance section of a local craft store. I used foam core to build the walls and floor, then covered with scrapbook paper. I used a ball stylus to indent the area around each floor tile.

This is an exact replica of a doctor's office exam room I spent a lot of time in at one point in my life. All the fabric for the exam bed and chair is from gloves I got at a resale shop. The chair's fabric is from a dollar store eyeglass cleaning cloth. The door is Illustration board covered with a printie. The door handle is a piece of a scrap booking brad.

The mirror was cut from a piece of plastic automotive replacement mirror. The cabinet was made with Illustration board and staples are used as handles. The clipboards are heavy card stock and printies. I used a tiny bit of foam core to make the clip part of the board slant downwards. The sharps container is a tiny seed bead container with a printie covering it.

The sink is a plastic packaging cover painted silver. A piece of snap is the drain. The faucet is earring backs and thin wire. The computer monitor is a cellphone display with electrical tape edges. The keyboard and mouse are printies on fun foam. The sphygmomanometer is printies, bits of plastic pieces from broken electronics and fun foam.

I used metal pipe pieces from a hobby shop to form the legs of the exam bed and foot stool. The foot stool top is a piece of jar opener painted black. The wheels on the stool are pony beads.

The chair arms are fun foam with a coat of clear nail polish to make them look plastic. The medical waste bin was a car charger. I painted it and added printies. I glued red plastic around it to give the appearance that it opens. I stenciled the recipient's name on the front of the trunk.
