Miniature Garage Sale Room Box
Completed on April 19, 2019
My Mother used to have huge garage sales twice a year when I was growing up. Garage sales were a lot more profitable back then, without dollar stores to compete with. I made an exact replica of my Mother's garage depicting one of those sales. This was a great way to use leftover items from swaps, large purchased lots, etc.
The walls are 1/2" foamcore. The outer walls are covered with printies of white brick. The inner walls are covered with white card stock. The floor is painted grey. The door is Illustration board with panels added. The deadbolt lock is a small pony bead cut in half, card stock added to the middle, and painted gold.
The electric sweeper is made from the handle of a toothbrush. Another toothbrush head was used to make the push broom. Most of the gardening supplies and cleaning supplies are printies. The 3rd photo shows how the garage looked before the tables were glued in place.
Check my blog posts for the tutorial to make the storage totes. In real life these shelves would be covered with sheets, in miniature I opted for signs stating those items are not for sale.
Another view of the garage before the tables were glued, and a photo after the tables were in place.
Some of the items were obtained in mini swaps with friends, others were bought. Several were part of large lots from auction sites. The rest are printies or found items repurposed. The lamp was made with beads. The bowl is a water bottle cap. The cups are mechanical pencil eraser caps.
The games are printies. I used foam to create buildups in the Yahtzee box. The clock is a button. The brown table is metal piping and Illustration board covered with a printie and a coat of matte mod podge. The center table is made of balsa. The white table is foamcore with metal piping legs.
The dog and cat are buttons. The jeans and gloves are printies. The books are printies covering fun foam.
The ladders are balsa and illustration board painted to look like my mother's existing ladder. The bicycle came from a dollar store. The clothes are all scrapbook decals. The stuffed animals were purchased.
The chairs were a swap gift. The adding machine, spiral and cigar box are printies. The duck tape and masking tape were cut from their real size counterparts.
